About Me
Desiree K. Kumar concentrates her practice on small business and real estate transactional matters. Desiree also has extensive experience practicing civil litigation in a trial setting and has tried jury trials to verdict throughout central Illinois, both in federal and state court. Desiree’s clients appreciate her straightforward and honest advice, designed to resolve legal difficulties and avoid the time and costs associated with litigation.​
Prior to opening her own firm, Desiree worked as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Illinois where she defended state employees in civil rights actions. Prior to working as an AAG, she was an associate attorney at a Chicago area law firm where she practiced insurance defense litigation and medical malpractice defense litigation. Desiree also clerked for Honorable Franklin U. Valderrama in the Chancery division of the Circuit Court of Cook County.​
In addition to her legal experience, Desiree is an avid real estate investor. Through her own personal experience in real estate investing and property management, Desiree is able to offer her clients not only legal expertise, but also personal experience in real estate investing. ​
Desiree graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. She then earned her Juris Doctor degree from Valparaiso University. Desiree is licensed in California, Colorado, Illinois, and Wisconsin and has been admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for the Southern District of Illinois and the Central District of Illinois.
In her free time, Desiree enjoys spending time with her husband and children, reading, cooking, hiking, bicycling and auto racing.
